FAQ
What is HushSight?
HushSight is an AI box that sits in your home. It connects to your existing cameras and detects falls, smoke and fire, strangers and other risks on the device. Video and images stay in your home; only event notifications are sent. HushSight is built by HushSight and is currently in early access.
Can one box cover my whole home?
One box connects to several cameras on your home network, so coverage depends on how many cameras you have and where they're placed. The maximum number of cameras isn't final; we'll work out placement with early-access users.
How is it different from an ordinary cloud camera?
A traditional cloud camera usually uploads video to a server for analysis or storage. HushSight analyses inside your home and sends only event notifications. Each approach has strengths, such as long-term cloud video storage.
How accurate is it?
We haven't published accuracy figures because the product is in early access and we don't have reliable measurements yet. When we do, we'll publish them along with how they were taken. No detection is perfect, so HushSight is an aid, not a replacement for human care.
Does it replace a smoke alarm or emergency services?
No. HushSight is not a certified fire alarm or a medical device. Keep a certified smoke detector and call emergency services when something happens. HushSight helps you know sooner.
Will my camera work with HushSight?
Cameras that support RTSP or ONVIF usually work, for example many Hikvision, Dahua, Tapo (plug-in), Imou and Ezviz lines, some of which need manual setup in the maker's app. Battery-powered cameras usually don't. See the list on the Product page; it's based on the makers' information, not test results.
How do I set it up?
Expected in three steps: plug in power, plug in network, scan the QR code in the app. Some cameras need RTSP/ONVIF switched on first. Details may change during early access and we'll guide you personally.
What if I don't have cameras?
We expect to offer a HushSight kit with cameras. It's in the "Coming soon" group and details haven't been announced.
Does HushSight need the internet?
Detection runs on the box, so it's designed to keep going without internet. You need internet to get notifications on your phone and for model updates.
Does it work when the internet is down?
Detection runs on the device, so it's designed to keep working during an outage. To get notifications on your phone, though, you need a connection.
Does my video get sent anywhere?
No. Video and images stay in your home. The only thing that leaves is an event notification: the type of alert, the time and the room name. That notification still travels over the internet and your phone's push-notification service.
How does face recognition work, and where is the data kept?
This feature is in development ("Coming soon"). Face data is stored only on the device inside your home. A person is enrolled only with their consent (for children, a parent or guardian). You can delete it any time, and switch the feature off entirely.
Can I mask private rooms?
Yes, by design: private areas are masked on the device itself. We recommend never placing cameras in bathrooms or changing rooms. This feature is in the "Coming soon" group.
Are housekeepers and guests recorded?
Anyone in a camera's view can be detected as "a person". Please tell household members, helpers and guests that cameras are in use. That's also the spirit of personal-data law.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. For sign-up data on this website, email us to have it removed. For data on the box (clips, faces), delete it in the app any time.
How is my personal data used when I sign up?
We use your email (and name, if you give it) only to contact you about HushSight. We don't sell data. See the Privacy Policy.
How much does it cost and when is it available?
We haven't announced pricing or a sale date. Join early access to hear first; there's no obligation to buy.
Is there a monthly fee?
We haven't settled the pricing model and will state it clearly before selling. There's no price yet and it isn't on sale.
